Construction

Construction process begins...

The first step was to choose a photo from the ones that I took, and edit it to suit my front cover.

This photo was the one that I chose to use for my cover photo, however, in the photo a reflection can be seen in the window so I have edited this out so that the image looks more professional.

This is the first photo of the magazine cover where I have just added and positioned the image.

This is the next photo of the construction stage of my magazine cover where I have added the title below:

I have got this design for the font from Dafont.com and then I had to think of the name and the color design. I then thought of a strapline to go with my masthead, and added this to the top. I also have added a subhead and some cover lines to attract the attention of the target audience. Next I changed the color of the title and this was the final product for the cover:

I then began to start the making of my contents page which is the next page of the magazine:

Here I used an image that I took of a bedside table and lamp next to a bed in one of the houses. I took this image at quite an artistic angle so that it looked more professional and like an image that you would see in this sort of situation. I have also started to include some contents information and pages here at the top next to the picture.

I have also added more information and changed a few details to make it more fitting.

This image shows the bottom half of the contents page where I have added the title for the editors letter along with a small illustration of a quill to add character and personality to it. I have also added a small photo of myself as this is a very common convention of editors letters in regional magazines that I have looked at.

Here is the image of the finished editors letter with some contact information and detail on the right hand side as this is another common convention of regional magazines. The image shows the full finished contents page.

Below I have started to construct the double page spread:

For the image I have used a photo taken of a show home at the location. I have then created a title for the spread which I have named after the title of the magazine itself. I then began to include an article and some images to illustrate the text.

After adding these touches I started on the second page of the double. I started to create a small collage of images for the top section, and add another column of writing that match with the images on there:

I then added two more columns of the article and some images to go with them. I tried to add as much text as possible to make it look as professional as I could. Throughout the article I wrote my own paragraphs and also added images that I have taken myself rather than any from secondary sources:

This was then my finished double page spread. Next I started to construct my ancillary tasks, starting with the billboard:

This was my first step to making my billboard. I created a patterned gray background for the base of my billboard. I then added my company/magazine logo and the slogan to the backdrop:

I then added an image of one of the houses and lowered it so that it sat on the base of the billboard and had a professional look to it. I then removed the background so that only the house can be seen and the lowered the slogan so that it sat just slightly above the roof f the building:

After finishing my billboard design I decided to start the construction of my webpage and finished this in my final peices tab.
